Window into Government Spending

This is awesome. Now, if only the government would listen when we tell them it is being stupid. I suppose transparency is a good first step, but accountability is what we are all after.

For the java community, it is a bit of a blow that we could not make this a java based application. This will start to open up inroads for additional development. Since Drupal is php, I would imagine we will see a large number of government php apps follow.

Today, at the Personal Democracy Forum in New York, Vivek Kundra, the US national CIO, unveiled the new IT spending dashboards at usaspending.gov. The dashboards are designed to help Vivek and the CIOs of individual government agencies get a handle on the effectiveness of government IT spending.
