Should Ubuntu Replace Mono with OpenJDK?
It seems to me that it would be a very obvious choice to move mono based linux apps to java. Java is similar (it is what Microsoft copied). So, the port would not be hard. Java is faster. Java has more developers. Java is not patent encumbered in any way. I wish Novell would wake up and see the writing.
The Mono discussion may be tiring, but the fact of the matter is that thanks to this discussion, various major Linux distributions are now making official statements detailing their position in the Mono/C# debate. The latest to do this is Ubuntu, which reiterated their position yesterday.
