Oracle Does Not Get Client Computing
I hope I am reading too much into this, but this may not be great news for Java’s new client side efforts. Oracle has scheduled an event to talk about their merger approval on January 27th. The same day as the Apple tablet event. Are they crazy? They will get zero coverage in the tech press. Granted, the European commission decision does not become available until then, but wouldn’t a postponement for about a week make some sense? If Oracle had anyone that understood the client side in a controlling position, they would not be scheduling opposite the most anticipated tech announcement in the last several years.
For us tech junkies, next week will be a fun week. We will find out what oracle is planning for the Java assets, for Mysql, and Sun hardware. Also, we get to see the unveil of a great new toy. Is it a holiday??
